Yoram Yasur Rubin: Problems facing youth now a day

The society in which we currently live presents a series of abysmal differences between generations. A 5-year-old boy already plays electronic devices and knows how to surf the Internet when, surely, his parents did not touch a computer until his teens. The new technologies, the speed in how one lives and the fashions make young people and children face concrete problems that are worth knowing and managing as soon as possible.

– Childhood obesity

Yoram Yasur Rubin: The children are fat and increasingly fat. Video games, television, internet and fast food are partly to blame. Children spend more time sitting in front of a screen than running outdoors. This sedentary lifestyle has consequences:

  • Socially: it is no secret that overweight children are going to be teased by their peers – sad, but true. This can lead to problems such as low self-esteem, depression, etc.
  • Then there are health problems. High blood pressure, diabetes and other diseases that are associated with obesity. Psychologically and physically, obesity is a problem that can be solved with a simple increase in activity and awareness.

– Materialism

Yoram Yasur Rubin: We live in a society that promotes materialism and this particular disease is perpetuated by instigating bad habits in our children. We teach our children that the measure of success and happiness in life is the amount of things they have. Children naturally want things, especially if their friends have something similar.

Unfortunately, there seems to be little control over the guidance that accompanies a boy as we go through this. In essence, we give our children what they want, as long as it is within our financial capacity to do so. And some parents take risks. The concept of «winning» what you get or the idea that something «is not necessary» seems to have been lost and is wasted. The mentality of getting what we want and when we want has been rooted since childhood. The unfortunate result is that there are devastating consequences for such continued behavior in the future.

– Growing too fast

Yoram Yasur Rubin: There was a time when children enjoyed being children. Today, even in the first of ages, children are participating in adult activities with serious consequences. Each time they approach alcohol, drugs and sex earlier, it is a very popular and portrayed subject. Movies, television and the Internet make children bombarded with sexual suggestions, addictions and violence. The concept of childhood is literally in the process of disappearing.

If you live at home with a teenager, it is important that you speak clearly about sex, without taboos or taboos. In this article we tell you how to talk about sexuality with teenagers so that you have, once and for all, «the talk».

 – Violence in schools

The education of a child is the basis from which he will be able to go out into the world and build a life. Schools play an important role in this effort and therefore it is reasonable to expect these learning places to be safe havens for children while preparing for adult life. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. There are schools that can be a war zone.

Therefore it is essential to educate children with messages of tolerance, respect and pacifism to avoid getting into conflicts with other class children and developing aggressive behaviors.

– Disparity in education

Education is important. Few people would question this well-considered fact. A good education (as opposed to a bad one) will give a child a better chance of taking advantage of opportunities to succeed in life.

Unfortunately, some people have better education than others. This is not a matter of «one school is better than another school.» Rather, we are talking about whole social classes that are denied adequate education. The disparity in the quality of education is determined by race and financial situation.
